Mission Statement
Our goal is to organize, administer, and maintain a highly competitive girls basketball program.  We strive to provide our participants with instruction in individual and team basketball skills, and to create an environment that encourages the spirit of sportsmanship, as well as commitment to teamwork.

Academics
In order to participate in our program, all players are expected to be academically eligible to participate in their own schools’ athletic program (attaining a GPA of no less than 2.0). If academic assistance is needed, it is the player’s responsibility to speak with her coach and request tutorial assistance.

Attendance
Attendance is an extremely important part of our program.  It is the basis for continuity, structure, discipline, and establishing necessary routines.  All players are expected to abide by the following guidelines:

  1. Practices, games, and team meetings are mandatory (unless otherwise noted).
  2. Notify the coach in advance of any planned absence from a practice, team meeting, or game.
  3. If a player is late for practice, she may not start the next game and will enter said game at her coach’s discretion.
  4. If a player misses practice for any reason (excused or unexcused), any playing time in the next game is at her coach’s discretion.
  5. Excessive unexcused absences may result in the suspension or dismissal of a player from the program.

Sportsmanship
As a player on our team, you are also a representative of the Mission Rec. Center Rebels Girls’ AAU Basketball program.  The following guidelines pertaining to sportsmanship should be followed at all times:

  1. Players are expected to show good sportsmanship towards their teammates and opponents at all times.  Taunting opponents and/or instigating an altercation are unacceptable.
  2. Players are expected to show respect for their coaches as well as opposing coaches at all times.
  3. Players are expected to respect the officials at all times and should never openly question or argue an official’s call.

Any violation of these guidelines may result in disciplinary action taken upon the player by the coach.

Practice
Practice is mandatory for all players.

  1. Practice time will be designated for each individual team by their coaching staff.
  2. It is the players’ responsibility to know of each scheduled practice.
  3. All players should arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled practice time, to enable them to stretch and be ready to go at the appointed time.
  4. For further clarification, please see the section on Attendance.

Game Day

  1. All players must arrive one (1) hour prior to game time.
  2. All players must be in complete uniform before beginning pre-game warm up and team stretch.
  3. During the game, all players should be focused on the task at hand, The Game.
  4. If not physically in the game, players are to remain mentally in the game at all times.
  5. All players are expected to run on and off the court during player substitutions and time outs.
  6. Verbally supporting your teammates is strongly encouraged.
  7. For further clarification, please see the sections on Attendance and Sportsmanship.

Team Meetings
- Team meetings will be treated as practices. As mentioned in the Attendance section, they will be mandatory unless otherwise noted.
- Players are encouraged to ask questions if they do not understand what is being discussed.

  1. Communication is an important goal in developing a deeper understanding of the game and an integral part of teamwork.

Stretching Policy

  1. All players are to stretch properly before any practice or game. Failure to do so will ultimately end in injury.
  2. Players are to strive to become as flexible as possible, as increased flexibility will cut down on injuries.
  3. During stretching, there is to be no excess conversation. Both the person doing the stretching and the person being stretched need to concentrate on the task at hand.
  4. Team captains (designated by the coaching staff) will lead the stretching.

Post-Game

  1. At the conclusion of each game, players are to form a single line (with their coaches and teammates) and shake hands with the opposing team.
  2. After shaking hands, players will proceed to an area designated by their coach for a post-game meeting.
  3. Parents and fans are not allowed at this post-game meeting.

Player’s Responsibilities
In addition to the guidelines mentioned in previous sections, players are responsible for the following:

  1. Players are expected to work hard and focus during practice and games.
  2. Listen attentively to instructions and follow directions.
  3. Consistently review and follow your team’s plays.
  4. Spend time outside of practice improving their skills.

Parent’s Responsibilities

  1. Encourage your child positively.
  2. Ensure that your child is on time to practices, games, team meetings, and related events.
  3. Ensure that your child eats properly at tournaments.
  4. Ensure that your child has the proper uniform.
  5. Parents must participate in fundraising and are strongly encouraged to help where needed.

  2. Parents and fans are encouraged to cheer positively for their team.
  3. Negative comments or cheers will not be tolerated.
  4. Parents are not to coach their children during the game.
